There is a learning curve, but it's well worth it.
The standard sound set that comes with SynthFont sounds a whole lot better than the built-in 8-bit or FM, and some of the FREE soundfonts available on the Web are so accurate, you can hear the rosin on the bow! SynthFont uses SoundFonts, a Creative Labs proprietary 24-bit sample set, for playback. Both sound sets sound terrible, and will not give you a pleasurable listening experience.Ī better choice is SynthFont. Most of the programs mentioned above do perform the MIDI to WAV conversion, but they use the built-in 8-bit PCM samples or FM synthesizer in the on-board sound card in your computer.
